Trojans upend Washington St.

Grant Green and Anthony Vasquez drove in three runs apiece to lead the Southern California Trojans to an 8-7 Pacific-10 Conference baseball victory over the Washington State Cougars Sunday afternoon at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman.

Green smashed a three-run homer to left field during a five-run third inning to put the Trojans (28-28, 11-13) ahead 5-0. Vasquez had an RBI double in the inning.

The Trojans made it 8-0 in the fifth. Vasquez drove in two runs on a one-out double and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

Paul Gran drove in three runs for the Cougars (30-26, 8-16) with a sacrifice fly in the eighth and a two-run double in the ninth and Simi Reynolds homered leading off the ninth.

USC starter Kevin Couture gave up one run on seven hits and struck out eight with no walks in seven innings to earn the victory.

Washington State won the first two games in the three-game season-ending series.

•Joey Dunn had a two-run homer and Bradley Boyer had a two-run single during a six-run sixth inning to give the Washington Huskies a 7-4 Pacific-10 Conference victory over the Stanford Cardinal at Husky Ballpark in Seattle.

Cam Noble won in relief for the Huskies (33-22, 11-13), giving up one hit and striking out six in four innings.

Toby Gerhart and Sean Ratliff drove in two runs apiece for the Cardinal (33-21-2, 14-10).
