Community Frameworks will present three informational meeting in June for anyone interested in how to afford a down payment on a new home.

The meetings will discuss how first-time homebuyers can earn down payments and closing costs by contributing to the construction of their own home, as well as information about qualifying for low-cost financing.

The first meeting will be at the Cheney Community Library, 610 First St., Cheney, Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The second meeting will be June 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Spokane County Library in Airway Heights, 1213 S. Lundstrom.

The third meeting will be at the Hillyard Library, 4005 N. Cook St., June 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

ChalkArtWalk contest June 7

The Hillyard Festival Association and the Friends of the Historic Hillyard Community will present the annual ChalkArtWalk, a sidewalk chalk art contest, June 7 at 10 a.m. in Hillyard on Market Street, north of Wellesley Avenue.

The theme this year is “Earth, Wind, Rain and Fire.”

Contestants can enter for free and will be given a square of sidewalk and a some chalk to create their art. Participants may bring their own chalk.

The competition will include age groups 5 and under, 6 to 10, 11 to 15, 16 to 20, and 21 and older. Children younger than 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
