A Post Falls man is believed to have repeatedly raped and molested at least three boys, police said Friday, and authorities fear there are more victims.

Detectives determined the acts took place in the early to mid-1990s and continued for several years, said Post Falls police Lt. Pat Knight. The victims, who were 10 to 14 at the time, are now in their 20s.

“It’s almost like a Pandora’s box you’ve opened,” Knight said. “There may be more victims, there may not be. We just aren’t sure at this time.”

Kevin Greer, 52, is in the Kootenai County jail on three counts of lewd conduct with a minor following the Post Falls Police Department’s two-month investigation. Greer’s bail is set at $500,000.

The alleged sex abuse occurred while Greer was employed by the city of Post Falls as an engineering inspector. Greer, who is separated from his wife, was fired in September 2007 for performance issues unrelated to his current criminal charges, said Eric Keck, city administrator.

On Friday, Knight said a photo involving child pornography allegedly sent via the Internet by Greer triggered the investigation.

Authorities seized a computer and a camera and found evidence of illegal Internet activity at Greer’s home on Shannon Lane in Post Falls, police said.

“Our concern is that he had photos of these children doing sex acts on him,” said Knight.

The criminal acts took place in multiple locations, including the home where Greer still lives, Knight said. It’s unclear how the man met the children or what his relationship was with them.

The penalty for lewd contact with a minor in Idaho can include life imprisonment, Knight said. There is no longer a statute of limitations on the charge.

“You can’t understand it, but it’s reality,” Knight said. “It’s the man next door. You just don’t know who you are living next to.”
