Women’s event focuses on entrepreneurship

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Best-selling author Christina Crawford will be the keynote speaker Wednesday at the Power Women’s Summit presented by the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and NAWBO Inland Northwest.

The Chamber bills the event as a summit to celebrate women in business. The event runs from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mirabeau Park Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road.

Crawford is a successful entrepreneur. She is an advocate for the rights of adoptees, women and children and a pioneer in making family violence an issue of national interest. Before becoming an author, Crawford was an actress for 14 years appearing in theater, films, television and commercials. She has also been host-narrator for the 1995 Emmy Award-winning documentary, “Once Abused, Now Accused.”

During the 2007-08 season, she produced and hosted her own regional weekly television show, “Entertainment Northwest,” in association with RTN 24 in Spokane.

She’ll speak during the noon lunch.

The focus of this half-day event will be entrepreneurship. The program will start with a continental breakfast with exhibitors at 7 a.m. A highlight of the morning will be a panel discussion, “Successful Entrepreneurs: How they did it.”

Following the panel there will be two concurrent break-out sessions, including time with exhibitors. Linda Oien of businessPATHS will present “Get Everyone in the Boat Rowing the Same Direction” and Cheryl Lyons of Vision to Action will present “Re-discover Your Dreams, Pursue Your Passions.”

The cost for participants is $65 for Chamber and NAWBO members and $75 for non members.
