Blast injures 13 protesters
A blast wounded 13 people in Thailand’s capital early today when assailants hurled an explosive device at market vendors who had gathered to protest a rent hike at the government-owned facility, police said.
Two of the protesters remained hospitalized with serious injuries, but the rest have been released, said Surachet Sathitniramai at the Narenthorn Medical Center.
Hundreds of vendors who operate stalls at the outdoor market in Bangkok have been staging a protest since Wednesday against Legal Professional Co. Ltd., the facility’s new privately contracted management company, Sutip said.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Second school collapses partially
Panic spread across this capital city Wednesday as a second school partially fell, injuring at least nine students.
Meanwhile, rescuers clearing the rubble of a school that collapsed last week found two more bodies, raising the death toll to 91.
No one died in the partial collapse at Grace Divine School in a Port-au-Prince suburb on Wednesday.
The rise in the number of recorded deaths at the church-run school – as well as an increase in the number of injuries to 162 – came after parents revealed at a meeting with authorities that they had quickly removed many children from the rubble, causing rescue workers to list them as unaccounted for. As many as 700 children were reportedly enrolled at the school.
