Claus leads parade to tree lighting
Believe it or not, the holiday season has arrived and so has Santa Claus!
On Nov. 21, Claus will arrive in his second annual holiday parade at 6:45 p.m., followed by classic cars driven by the Inland Northwest Corvair Club, and holiday music from the Sacajawea Middle School Santa Band. The parade will begin at the Davenport Hotel valet parking entrance, 10 South Post St., and will end with the Tree Lighting at the River Park Square main entrance at Main and Post.
The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. at River Park Square with face-painting, balloon artist and carols sung by the Sweet Adelines.
Mayor Mary Verner will launch the tree lighting as the official start of the holiday season, and the event will conclude with caroling and the season’s first photos with Santa.
The KPBX Kids’ Concerts will play Songs of the Civil War on Nov. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave. The event will feature music from Wide River and will be narrated by Whitworth University English professor Leonard Oakland.
