Dodgeball deadline next Thursday
The deadline for the Spokane County Park and Recreation’s fifth annual Turkeybowl Dodgeball Tournament is Tuesday.
The adult, six-on-six coed (four men and two women) tournament is Nov. 26.

Lilac Festival receives grant
The Spokane Lilac Festival has received a Lodging Tax Grant from the city of Spokane.
The $9,000 grant will be used to promote the Spokane Community and the Lilac Festival.
Yearly, the festival estimates it brings in around $4.5 million in tourism money to the community during the third weekend in May.

Help needed to fill shoe boxes
Spokane volunteers are asking for community help to every child around the world have a merry Christmas.
Shoe boxes, filled with assorted gifts, are being collected for Operation Christmas Child, with the goal of sending 17,000 boxes to children worldwide.

Scholarship applications sought
The Miss Spokane Scholarship Organization is accepting applications for the 2009 program.
Age categories include Miss, age 17-24 and a high school senior; Teen, age 13-17, and not a high school senior; and Princess, age 7-11. The Princess category is a mentoring program and not a competition.
The application deadline is Saturday.
