Grading the cougars: C+

Quarterback: D+

Until Lopina got injured, the passing game was decent, but Levenseller struggled.

Running backs: D

Tardy hit holes hard all game, but there just weren’t enough.

Receivers: C+

A couple of excellent catches weren’t enough to carry the offense. Gibson gets a plus by himself.

Offensive line: F

One glaring stat: ASU had 13 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Enough said.

Defensive line: C+

Again a solid effort, although ASU’s offensive line was one of the weakest WSU has played.

Linebackers: B-

Much better in filling gaps and, with Trent leading the way, combined for 26 tackles.

Defensive backs: C

The first touchdown pass came despite good coverage, but the last two were breakdowns.

Coaching: C+

The defensive scheme gave ASU trouble early. The offense struggled after the first drive.

Special teams: C

Nothing catastrophic, but nothing special either. ASU’s punt team kept flipping field position.
