Pullman wins district title; West Valley 2nd

Pullman swept West Valley to win the District 7 2A championship Saturday at East Valley, but the Eagles rebounded to defeat Riverside to grab the second berth in the Washington State 2A tournament in Kennewick next weekend.

Jenny Nakata paced Pullman’s 25-16, 25-14, 25-19 win with 14 digs and two aces. Katie Guettinger added 29 assists and two aces. For WV, Shaniqua Nilles had eight kills and Bailey Wold 11 digs.

The Eagles came back to beat Riverside 25-21, 25-11, 25-14. Bailey Wold had 11 kills, Mallorie Schoesler 10 digs and Alyssa Wold 20 assists, after having 14 in the first match, and five aces.

Earlier, Riverside eliminated Colville 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20. Joni Nagy had 17 kills for the Rams and Casi Moore and Elizabeth McKinney each had 23 digs. McKinney also had 33 assists and three aces. Makayla Carr led the Indians with 14 kills and Jamie Ebel had 23 digs.

State 1A: Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) was eliminated with a 1-2 record after beating Connell 25-11, 25-18, 25-20 before losing to Goldendale 25-20, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18 at Yakima’s SunDome.

King’s defeated Castle Rock in four games for the championship.
