Chiefs tumble again on trip through East

REGINA, Saskatchewan – The East is proving to be a beast.

The Spokane Chiefs lost their third consecutive Western Hockey League game – 2-0 to the Regina Pats Wednesday night – and fell to 1-3 on their swing through the Eastern Conference.

Linden Rowat stopped 30 shots to pick up his first shutout of the season.

Jordan Eberle opened the scoring on a power play in the first period.

Eberle has scored in five consecutive games and is the WHL’s second-leading goal-scorer.

The game’s other goal came midway through the second period, blasting a shot from the right circle. He had leapt and knocked down a clearing attempt before putting the puck past Spokane goaltender Dustin Tokarski.

The Chiefs tried to rally in the final period, outshooting the Pats 10-1, but to no avail.

The Chiefs fell to 14-7-0-3 but remained in first place in their division, one point ahead of Tri-City, which lost at Kelowna. The Chiefs head to Moose Jaw next where they will play the Warriors at 5 p.m. (Pacific) Friday.

Notes

The Chiefs added forward Kenton Miller to their roster. Miller, who is expected to join the team during its road trip, scored five goals in 24 games with the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
