Weatherization seminar planned
West Plains homeowners are invited to attend the Warm Hearts, Warm Homes Weatherization Training event Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lake City Assembly of God Church.
Cheney United Methodist Church, Avista Utilities, Inland Power and Light and the Lake City Assembly of God Church will present trainers from Spokane Neighborhood Action Program.
Homeowners will get instruction on door sealing, window sealing, hot water tank wrap, caulking, using switch and outlet gaskets and stopping heat loss through fireplaces.
Qualified Avista and Inland Power and Light customers can receive some free materials, but all projects can be done at a low cost.

Business district forum today
Pathways to Progress will present a free public forum today at 7:15 p.m. in the Cheney City Hall Auditorium to discuss the business improvement district.
The discussion panel will include Marty Dickinson of the Downtown Spokane Partnership, Ron Wells of Wells and Company, Stanley Schwartz, city attorney for Cheney. Spencer Grainger of Pathways to Progress will moderate.

Santa to visit senior center
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and all of the elves from the North Pole are taking a break from their busy schedule to visit the good girls and boys and their families for breakfast on Dec. 13 at the Southside Senior Activity Center, 3151 E. 27th Ave.
The holiday celebration with St. Nick and his family will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 10 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15 for adults and $12 for children.
Pancakes, eggs, sausages, juice, and coffee for mom and dad will make up the menu for early Christmas breakfast. Santa and Mrs. Claus are even bringing peppermint ice cream as a special treat.
Holiday festivities include a story read by Mrs. Claus, arts and crafts by Santa’s elves, and everybody can get their Christmas pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa will have a special present for each child to take home.
Reservations must be made before Dec. 1.
