Home Depot decides against store at South Hill site

From staff reports

A cluster of major retail developments planned for Spokane’s South Hill won’t include a Home Depot.

The company scrapped its plans to build the store near South Regal Street and the Palouse Highway, according to an e-mail to media outlets sent Wednesday afternoon.

“We re-evaluated this deal and found it no longer works for us,” wrote spokeswoman Kathryn Gallagher. “… No one factor is to blame.”

The company earlier this year announced plans to cut back on new stores.

The Home Depot store was one of several retail stores planned for the three-parcel development.
