Idaho golfer second
University of Idaho’s Kayla Mortellaro finished second Wednesday at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational women’s golf tournament at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.
Mortellaro shot a final-round 3-over-par 75 to finish at 6-over 222, four shots behind Mari Chun of Stanford.
Mead graduate Amy Eneroth (227) tied for seventh for Washington State and Washington’s Karinn Dickinson tied for third at 226.
Stanford won the team title, followed by Oregon and Washington. WSU was ninth, Idaho 11th and Eastern Washington finished last in the 13-team tourney.
Cross country
Eastern Washington’s Paul Limpf was named the Big Sky Conference athlete of the week after he finished sixth at the Notre Dame Invitational. Limpf covered the 8,000-meter course in 23 minutes, 42 seconds.
Football
The Spokane Shock added four players to their roster.
The Shock signed defensive back Chaz Williams (Louisiana-Monroe), defensive lineman Frank Morten, Jr. (Tulane), offensive lineman Aryan Barto (Tulane) and defensive lineman Martel Brown (North Carolina State).
Women’s volleyball
Kaimi Rocha had 11 kills and Holly Tomlin added 10 to lead Whitworth (10-9, 3-4 Northwest Conference) to a 20-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-10 win over host Whitman (0-16, 0-7) at Walla Walla.
•Community Colleges of Spokane (18-15, 4-4) rolled to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Yakima Valley (1-20, 0-7) in NWAACC action at Spokane Falls CC.
Girls soccer
Averi Hallman scored two goals and Delaney Zalud added a goal and an assist to lead Mt. Spokane (5-2, 3-2) to a 3-1 victory over visiting Mead (7-1, 4-1) in Greater Spokane League play. … Also in the GSL, Bev Amstadter netted three goals to carry Lewis and Clark (10-1, 5-0) to a 4-0 win over host Ferris (4-4, 3-3). … Haliegh Miller scored in the 66th minute to spark Central Valley (4-4, 2-3) to a 1-0 win over visiting North Central (3-7, 1-6). … Amanda Biesner tallied two goals to power East Valley (4-5, 2-4) to a 6-0 win over host Rogers (0-6, 0-6). … Gonzaga Prep (9-1, 5-1) edged host University (6-5, 3-3) 1-0 on the strength of a 3-1 shootout advantage. Megan Lindsay, Ashley Ames and Maddy Scott scored for G-Prep, while Annie-Brynn Stauffer had U-Hi’s lone shootout goal.
