Conference change considered

West Valley High School is considering adding student-led conferences every spring in place of the currently formatted conferences.

Students would collect samples of their work and make a 15-minute presentation to their parents about their progress in school.

The school now has arena-style conferences in the fall and spring that allow parents to meet with each of their child’s teachers. That style would remain for the fall conferences.

The goal is to more fully engage students, said West Valley Academy Principal Julie Poage. The school did a small pilot of the proposed change in May which was well received by parents.
