Wolf’s overtime run carries Stags by WV

Alex Wolf’s 1-yard run in overtime lifted visiting Deer Park to a 19-13 Great Northern League victory over West Valley on Friday night at Ward Maurer Field.

The Stags (5-1, 2-1) broke open a scoreless game after halftime on an 11-yard Wolf-to-Tanner Knutson pass and Brandon Leliefeld’s 4-yard run. But the Eagles (4-2, 1-2) got even in the fourth quarter on TD runs of 33 and 3 yards by Drew Clausen. West Valley held a 245-153 edge in total yardage, but lost a fumble and had a pass intercepted.

Cheney 26, Colville 23: Max Harris kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime and the Blackhawks (4-2, 2-1) knocked the host Indians (4-2, 2-1) out of first place, despite a 90-yard kickoff return to open the game by Jared Fisher.

Pullman 42, Medical Lake 12: Cody Weber ran for two touchdowns and returned a punt 18 yards for another in Pullman as the Greyhounds (4-2, 2-1) rolled over the Cardinals (0-5, 0-3). Pullman rushed for 278 yards – 140 by Weber and another 93 by Jared Byers – while Nick Pacheco threw for two touchdowns for the Cardinals.

Clarkston 28, Riverside 7: Zach Myers had touchdown runs of 67, 80 and 1 yard in the first half as the Bantams (3-3, 3-0) beat the Rams (2-4, 0-3) in Clarkston.

IEL 5A North

Lewiston 33, Coeur d’Alene 27: Justin Podrabsky’s touchdown pass with 1:10 remaining lifted the third-ranked Bengals over the visiting Vikings in a game that was tied at 27 heading into the fourth quarter. Lewiston (6-0, 1-0) moves into a tie atop the standings with Lake City, while the Vikings fell to 2-4, 0-1. J.J. Turbin rushed for 133 yards and passed for a 174 for the Vikings.

Intermountain League

Timberlake 54, Bonners Ferry 26: Patrick Lagrimanta ran for 155 yards on just seven carries and three long touchdowns – topped by a 75-yarder – and the Tigers (2-4, 2-1) crushed the visiting Badgers (2-4, 0-3) despite four TDs by Jave Sale.

Priest River 53, Kellogg 9: Brian Nelson’s 181 yards came on just seven carries – including TDs of 82, 50 and 32 yards – and the Spartans (4-2, 2-1) blew out the visiting Wildcats (2-4, 1-2).

St. Maries 34, Orofino 20: Jake Szilasi was a big-play machine for the Lumberjacks (2-4, 2-1) in St. Maries, scoring five touchdowns – including a 90-yard kickoff return, a 60-yard run and a 66-yard pass reception.

Northeast A

Freeman 45, Kettle Falls 0: Luke Mathews passed for a pair of touchdowns and kicked a field goal at Freeman as the Scotties (4-1, 2-0) won their fourth straight over the Bulldogs (1-5, 1-2).

Chewelah 54, Newport 0: Russell Whitely rushed for 135 yards and four touchdowns and Italian exchange student Andreus Inama kicked field goals of 35 and 38 yards in the Cougars’ (3-2, 1-0) romp over the visiting Grizzlies (0-5, 0-3), who managed just 109 total yards.

Northeast 2B

Reardan 27, Republic 7: Chris Pence rushed for 157 yards on 20 carries, with one touchdown at Reardan as the Indians (4-1, 2-0) moved into a tie with Colfax atop the standings with a win over the Tigers (1-3, 1-2).

Lind-Ritzville 15, Springdale 8: Geoff Easton lofted a 53-yard touchdown pass to Cory Whitmore with 20 seconds left as the Broncos (3-2, 2-1) overcame the Chargers (3-3, 1-2) in Springdale.

Davenport 38, Selkirk 13: Casey Holter ran for 129 of the Gorillas’ (2-2, 1-1) 267 yards rushing and Conner Glick had a pair of touchdown against the visiting Rangers (1-4, 0-3).

Southeast 2B

Asotin 62, Dayton 7: The Panthers (5-1, 3-0) kept pace with co-leader Garfield-Palouse with a romp over the visiting Bulldogs (0-5, 0-3).

DeSales 30, Pomeroy 19: Pat Richard added two second-half touchdown runs to his 73-yard scoring pass to Marcus Spiess and the visiting Irish (4-2, 3-0) overcame the Pirates (1-3, 1-2) despite Tye Knebel’s TD runs of 44 and 47 yards.

Garfield-Palouse 42, Liberty Christian 0: Todd Tinter rambled for 221 yards – including a 71-yard TD – and Gavin Burt completed 11 of 16 passes in the Vikings’ (5-0, 3-0) rout of the Patriots (0-6, 0-3) in Richland.

Waitsburg-Prescott 50, Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 14: Ryan Mason threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns and the homestanding Cardinals (2-3, 2-1) cruised past the Nighthawks (0-4, 0-3).

Northeast 1B

Cusick 54, Curlew 7: The Panthers (6-0, 6-0) continued their run through the league against the visiting Cougars (1-5, 1-5) with a pair of defensive touchdowns – a 26-yard interception return by Dustin Villegas and Daniel Stang’s 20-yard return of a tipped lateral. Matt Hendershott also had a 25-yard punt return for a score in a game stopped in the third quarter.

Columbia 54, Wellpinit 26: At Hunters, Paul Lerrew ran for 203 yards and three touchdowns as the Lions (4-2, 4-2) roared to a 38-0 halftime lead over the visiting Indians (1-5, 1-5), who got three touchdown passes from quarterback Cody Flett.

Inchelium 29, Waterville 25: The Hornets (4-2, 4-2) got 148 yards rushing from Tony Louie and an 80-yard interception return by Tyler Boyd in a hard-fought win at Waterville (2-3).

Odessa 46, Sprague-Harrington 0: Quarterback Ryan King rushed for 175 yards and threw for two TDs to spark the Tigers (5-1, 5-1) past the Falcons (0-6, 0-6). Aaron Bruya had two interceptions, running one back 70 yards for a TD and the other 64 yards to the visitors’ 5-yard line.

Wilbur-Creston 50, Pateros 36: The Wildcats (3-3, 3-3) won a wild one on the road over the Billygoats (3-3, 3-3).

Southeast 1B

Lyle/Klickitat/Wishram 48, St. John-Endicott 24: Henry Matai rushed for three touchdowns and returned a kickoff 63 yards for another as the visiting Cougars (2-4, 1-0) used a big third quarter to cut down the Eagles (0-6, 0-2).

North Star

Lakeside 72, Mullan 32: Tyler McCully broke open a tie game with a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown and Brandon Smith followed with a TD pass and a 40-yard scoring run to lift the Knights (3-4, 3-3) over the Tigers (2-4, 2-4) in Mullan.

Wallace 40, Clark Fork 34: The Miners (4-1, 4-1) rallied for 20 points in the fourth quarter to overtake the winless Wampus Cats in Clark Fork.

Non-league

Raymond (B.C.) 42, Sandpoint 20: Storm Bartsoff ran for three touchdowns and threw for another and the home-standing Canadians pulled away in the second half. The Bulldogs (3-4) saw Jake Semones team up with Mike Hubbard on a pair of TD passes.

Vallivue 49, Lake City 41: The Timberwolves’ (3-3) rally from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit fell short in Caldwell.

Tri-Cities Prep 60, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 26: Will Hoppes threw for 441 yards and seven touchdowns and the Jaguars (5-0) had no trouble with the Warriors (4-2) in Richland.

Entiat 55, Valley Christian 50: Hank McWhinney opened the game with a 90-yard kickoff return, but the Tigers needed a 21-point fourth quarter to beat the visiting Panthers (0-5).

Lakeside 17, La Grande (Ore.) 14: Bjorn Buttner’s first-quarter field goal of 36 yards wound up being the difference for the Eagles (4-2) in Nine Mile Falls, with Carl Park getting the winning score on a 7-yard pass from Brady Blankevoort to beat the Tigers. Park also rushed for 76 yards.
