Arena awaits familiar goalie

Armstrong’s Cougars play Spokane on Saturday

Last season, the goaltending tandem of Dustin Tokarski and Kevin Armstrong carried the Spokane Chiefs throughout the regular season in the Western Hockey League.

On Saturday, both Tokarski and Armstrong will be together on the Arena ice once again – this time as dueling goaltenders.

After Spokane hosts the Seattle Thunderbirds tonight at the Arena with a chance to extend their lead in the U.S. Division, Armstrong – who was traded to the Prince George Cougars in the off-season – will face his old teammates Saturday night when the Chiefs host the Cougars.

Armstrong won 51 games over the span of 21/2 years in Spokane and posted a 2.17 goals-against average and .915 save percentage in 33 games last season.

In 12 games this season, Armstrong has posted a 3.97 GAA and .883 save percentage.

The Chiefs (8-1-0-3) are in first place in the division standings, one point ahead of the Tri-City Americans. Spokane is 5-0 at home and has scored 24 goals while giving up just five.
