Summary: There always seems to be one loser-out game in the Pac-10 and this is it this week. The Ducks pounded Arizona State last week as quarterback Jeremiah Masoli earned Pac-10 offensive player of the week honors. “I think you can say he’s the man,” Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said of the junior college transfer. “What he’s done is nothing short of amazing.” Masoli was 17 of 26 for 146 yards while running for 85 yards on eight carries against ASU in one of his best all-around efforts since taking over for the injured Justin Roper, who is healthy. Cal has been using two quarterbacks, but, unlike Oregon, that’s not because of injuries as much as a coach’s decision. The flavor of the week is Kevin Riley, who played the entire game vs. UCLA, hitting 11 of 22 passes for 153 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. “I thought he did a nice job of making good decisions,” Cal coach Jeff Tedford said. “One of the keys of the game was they had four turnovers and we didn’t have any.”
