Bail set for man accused of robbery
ELLENSBURG – Bail has been set at $500,000 for a man accused of robbing an Ellensburg-area convenience store with his 9-year-old daughter at his side.
At Tuesday’s hearing, Kittitas County Superior Court Judge Michael Cooper also barred 42-year-old Robert Daniel Webb, of Everett, from having any contact with his daughter Meadow, who is back with relatives.
On a video that captured the March 31 robbery, the robber told the clerk at an AMPM mini-mart that he had lost his job and needed money for his daughter.
The video shows a girl in a pink coat watching as the man beside her pulls a gun and takes about $200.
Webb was arrested last weekend in Yakima on a first-degree robbery warrant. The judge scheduled Webb’s arraignment for April 20.
Kittitas County Prosecutor Candice Hooper said Tuesday the employees of the mini-mart in nearby Thorp felt the incident was “fairly traumatizing.” Hooper said Webb put the child at risk and is also accused of threatening to kill a store employee if police were contacted.
On April 1, the man eluded officers in Fortuna, Calif., after leaving his daughter at the home of an acquaintance.
When the girl returned to Washington state on April 3, she told reporters the situation has been hard and has made her sad.
