Camp counselor training offered

From May 13 to June 15, Spokane County residents are welcome to participate in a Counselor in Training Program at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place in Spokane Valley.

Participants will become first aid and CPR certified and will have an understanding of working with kids in a day camp setting. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced day camp directors, attend a statewide workshop, and shadow a camp counselor during a week or more of camp.

Cost for the program is $120.

City Council meeting canceled

Tuesday’s Spokane Valley City Council meeting has been canceled.

A majority of the council will be attending a National League of Cities “green cities” conference next week in Portland.
