Christ the Savior Orthodox plans Easter service

Churches such as Christ the Savior Orthodox Church that follow the Eastern Orthodox calendar will be celebrating Easter, or Pascha, on Sunday.

The Easter service will begin at 11 p.m. tonight and will continue into the early hours of the morning. The service will be followed by a fellowship meal.

The celebration will resume at 1 p.m. Sunday with a service that includes reading the Gospel in multiple languages. A Pascha party will follow the service.

The church is at 12407 E. 16th Ave.

Auction

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will present “An Evening of Tax Write-Offs” next Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. at the church, 15319 E. Eighth Ave.

The event will include wine, hors d’oeuvres and a performance of “The Best of Patrick McManus” with Tim Behrens. Behrens has frequently performed his one-man show, based on books by Patrick McManus, in the area.

Camp Sunday

Members of the Veradale United Church of Christ are invited to wear their old church summer camp T-shirts during a church camp service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The service will be followed by a barbecue lunch. Donations will be accepted with proceeds benefiting church youth going to church summer camp. The church is at 611 N. Progress Road.

Pancake breakfast

The youth of Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, will serve a pancake breakfast Sunday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to benefit youths going to summer camp this year. The cost is $5 per person. Children under age 6 can eat for free.
