Jury will review coroner’s suicide ruling

OLYMPIA – A jury will hear a Spokane woman’s arguments that her daughter was killed and did not commit suicide 10 years ago in Toledo, Wash.

A Thurston County judge decided Friday to allow a nine-member jury to hear Barb Thompson’s civil lawsuit in the death of Ronda Reynolds.

Thompson hopes the jury will decide the Lewis County coroner made a mistake in ruling the 1998 shooting a suicide.

Reynolds, a 33-year-old former state trooper, was found shot in the head at her home.

Lewis County sheriff’s investigators, Coroner Terry Wilson and the state attorney general’s office, which reviewed the case in 2006, agreed it was a suicide.

A trial to hear Thompson’s case was set tentatively for Nov. 2.
