Softball sign-up under way
The Spokane Valley Girls Softball Association, 12505 E. Sprague Ave., Suite 1, has open registration through Wednesday. Interested players can sign up today, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Wednesday, from 6 to 7 p.m. A $25 late registration fee will apply after Thursday.
Age groups and fees include: T-ball, 6 and under, $40; machine pitch, 8 and under, $40; machine pitch, 10 and under, $50; 12 and under, $50; 14 and under, $60; 16 and under to 18 and under , $60.
Birth certificates must be on file to be eligible to play.
Forms are also available at Evergreen Pet, 14319 E. Sprague Ave., Treasure Isles Video, 4904 N. Harvard Road in Otis Orchards, and Big R, 8325 E. Trent Ave.

Telect CEO to speak at luncheon
On Thursday, Wayne Williams, president and CEO of Telect Inc., will speak at the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce Spring Issues Forum Lunch at the Mirabeau Park Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road in Spokane Valley, at 11:30 a.m.
Williams’ presentation will use the analogy of “Finding Ponies” in the midst of these tough economic times.

Women’s wellness event today
Former Ms. America, Susan Jeske, will be at the Women’s Health and Wellness Expo at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place at 11 a.m. today.
Jeske will speak to woman and teenagers about “The Ugly Side of Beauty,” educating them about the dangers of chemicals and toxins in cosmetics and personal care products. The Women’s Health and Wellness Expo is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Rockford
Reserve spot at community sale
Spots are available for reservation for the second annual Rockford community garage sale May 29 and 30 at Rockford Park. Spaces are $10 each and the fee is due at the time of sign-up.
Garage sales may also be held at the participants’ homes. Maps to the homes will be provided and participants can be added to the map free of charge. The maps will be available at Rockford businesses.
The event is sponsored by the Rockford Community Center and the town of Rockford, in conjunction with the United Methodist Church, the Rockford Historical Society and the Southeast Spokane County Fair.
