Valley Baseball finalists square off today

Pee Wee, Midget League championship games at West Valley High School

The top two seeds needed extra innings to get there, but Blasingame Insurance (Liberty Lake) and Leo’s Photography (Sunrise 2) will play for the Spokane Valley Baseball Pee Wee League championship today at noon at West Valley High School.

Blasingame (13-0) defeated McDonald’s (University) 7-6 in seven innings and Leo’s (13-1) topped Hurliman Heating (Ponderosa) 6-5, also in seven during games between the league’s top four finishers. McDonald’s finished 11-4 and Hurliman 11-3.

Finalists for the Midget League championship are Spokane Athletic Supply (Liberty Lake) and American On-Site Services (Pasadena Park), the league’s top two seeds. They meet today at 9 a.m. at West Valley. Spokane Athletic (13-0) defeated Grocery Outlet (Ness) 2-1 and American On-Site (11-2) defeated Geroge Velis DDS 9-3 in Thursday’s semifinals.

There was only one minor quarterfinal upset. No. 5 seed Grocery Outlet (Ness) beat No. 4 Ponderosa 5-3 to advance against top-seeded Spokane Athletic Supply. Grocery Outlet (8-4-1) had opened with a victory over Intermountain Fabricators (Adams). Spokane Athletic (12-0) topped Valley Instant Printing (Sunrise) 7-3 following a first-round bye.
