Boys will be beaten

Rachel Alexandra has done it again. The magnificent 3-year-old filly beat the boys for the second time in rolling to an easy victory in the $1.25 million Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, N.J. Rachel Alexandra, the 1-2 favorite, overcame a sloppy track Sunday for her eighth consecutive victory. She beat Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird by six lengths. The win established Rachel Alexandra as the nation’s top 3-year-old – male or female – and her next start could come in the prestigious Travers Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 29. Rachel Alexandra became the first filly in 85 years to win the Preakness when she defeated Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird.
