Mayor’s daughter arrested after raid
Harrison woman faces drug possession charge
The daughter of the Post Falls mayor is accused of giving marijuana to her teenage son.
Lori L. Larkin, 37, is in Kootenai County Jail on one charge of possessing and distributing a controlled substance.
Sheriff’s detectives raided Larkin’s home in Harrison on July 30 after hearing the woman and her fiance, Charles L. Baker, 34, smoked marijuana there regularly.
Larkin told detectives she used marijuana “to alleviate her medical problems” and planned to move to Oregon to obtain a medical marijuana license, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department report.
Investigators found two marijuana plants, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the home and arrested Larkin and Baker.
Larkin’s 16-year-old son said he’d been smoking marijuana for a few years and often got it from his mother, according to the report.
Baker was charged with possessing marijuana and paraphernalia and sentenced July 31 to two years on probation and four days in jail.
Clay Larkin has been the mayor of Post Falls for eight years.
He said Friday that he was surprised by his daughter’s arrest and wasn’t sure what had happened.
“It’s a very difficult situation for all of us,” he said.
