Submit photos for pet calendar

SPOKANE COUNTY – The Spokane Humane Society, 6607 N. Havana St., will be collecting digital photographs through Sept. 15 for their Pet Calendar Photo Contest.

The winners of the photo contest will be included in the 2010 calendar, an annual fundraiser for the Humane Society.

The cost to enter is $25.

Low-income dental care available

SPOKANE COUNTY – Community Colleges of Spokane is offering a low-income dental clinic through its expanded function dental program Friday and Saturday and Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Exams, X-rays, amalgam (silver) fillings and composite (white) fillings will be available.

Market Place open Tuesday, Thursday through Aug. 30.

WEST CENTRAL – Now through Aug. 30, the West Central Market Place is open every Tuesday and Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Event joins Taipei visitors, community

Downtown – Daniel Liao and Andrew Yang, directors of the Taipei Economic and Culture Center, will join Spokane business leaders and community members on Friday in the Unity in the Community celebration.

A business reception will be held for the Taipei dignitaries at Community-Minded Enterprises, located in the Saranac Building, 25 W. Main St., from 2:30 to 5 p.m.

Art auction on Aug. 27 will benefit church

LATAH VALLEY – Latah Valley Presbyterian Church, 202 E. Meadow Lane Road, will host an art auction Aug. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event, themed “The Spiritual Journey Into and Out of the Institutional Church,” will feature local artists and will include live and silent auctions, appetizers and dessert.
