Thomas remains in fourth

Spokane’s Chessey Thomas remained in fourth place Wednesday after the second round of the American Junior Golf Association’s Junior at Wenatchee Golf & Country Club in East Wenatchee, Wash.

Thomas shot a 1-over-par 73 for a two-round total of 4-over 148, four shots behind Seo Hee Moon of Mukilteo, Wash., headed into today’s final round of the girls tournament.

Kaitlen Parsons of Greenacres is tied for 15th at 158.

Spokane’s Peter Gullickson is tied for 15th at 3-over 147 in the boys field. Daniel Snoey of Camas, Wash., has a one-shot lead at 140.

•Coeur d’Alene’s Alex Pounds won his first two matches during championship flight match play at the PNGA Junior Boys Amateur Championship at the University of Idaho Golf Course in Moscow.

The fourth-seeded Pounds defeated Nick Atkin of Kennewick 4 and 3, and Jamie Hall of Seattle in 21 holes.

Baseball

Mercer Island (Wash.) knocked Post Falls out of the Little League Western Regional Northwest Pool with a 12-2 decision at San Bernardino, Calif.

Post Falls finished 1-3 in the pool while Mercer Island (4-0) advances to today’s semifinal as the No. 1 seed.

Women’s soccer

Washington State University is ranked 21st in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll.

The Cougars begin their season at home against Idaho on Aug. 21.
