Watch ‘WALL-E’ outdoors Thursday
SPOKANE VALLEY – “WALL-E,” the second of two free family movies presented by the Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation Department, will be shown at Mirabeau Meadows Park, 13500 E. Mirabeau Parkway, on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
The outdoor movie event is for the whole family. The Disney/Pixar film is rated G.

Garage total loss in fire
Spokane Valley – Firefighters responded to a reported fire at 1716 S. Balfour on Aug. 10 shortly before 9 p.m. Five residents were able to rescue their pets and escape before firefighters arrived. The attached garage was fully aflame and firefighters had to open up the attic of the home to extinguish it.
The garage was a total loss. “The structure was so far damaged the investigators were not able to get in,” Clifford said. A resident reported that he had been welding inside the garage and looked up to find his workbench on fire, said Clifford.
Block party with movie Sunday
SPOKANE VALLEY – Opportunity Christian Church will host a community block party Sunday that begins with a barbecue at 5:30 p.m. The evening also includes games and a movie will begin at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 202 N. Pines Road.
Disincorporationists plan meeting Monday
SPOKANE VALLEY – Citizens for Disincorporation will have a public meeting Monday to discuss its ongoing campaign to abolish the Spokane Valley city government.
Organizer Sally Jackson said the gathering will be at the Spokane Valley Library, 12004 E. Main Ave., at 7 p.m.
