Three things we’ll be talking about this week

1Freshman Congressman Walt Minnick, of Idaho’s 1st District, will jump into the health care fray with a town hall forum Tuesday at North Idaho College’s Edminster Student Union Building Lake Coeur d’Alene Room.

2Speaking of North Idaho, the North Idaho Fair in Coeur d’Alene kicks off Wednesday with rides, animal exhibits, homemaking displays and all the things that make county fairs great. This year’s competitions include a texting contest, in which contestants will be judged on their speed as well as spelling, grammar and punctuation. OMG!

3Yes, summer has flown by. Especially for students in Spokane Public Schools. The area’s largest school district will resume classes Thursday, 11 days before Labor Day. Their brethren in West Valley and East Valley districts start a few days later, Sept. 1 and 2, respectively. Most others begin as usual, on the Tuesday after Labor Day.
