Freeman stays unbeaten with 56-38 win

MacKenzie Taylor notched a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, Korina Baker added 16 points and five assists and the Freeman Scotties forced 20 turnovers against the Colville Indians (1-1), including 17 in the first half, to earn a 56-38 non-league victory on Friday night in Freeman. The victory kept Freeman undefeated in five games.

Lakeside (WA) 54, Riverside 22: The Eagles kept their early-season success going against the Rams (1-2), holding Riverside to single digits in each quarter to earn the victory at Nine Mile Falls. The Eagles (4-0) held Riverside to just 16 percent shooting. Lakeside was led by Leslie Stillar’s 16 points.

Pullman 56, Moscow 48: Shelby Cheslek led three players in double figures with 15 points and the Greyhounds (1-0) used a 20-point fourth quarter to separate from the visiting Bears (1-8, 0-1).

Lake City 71, Glacier 47: Sydney Butler scored 19 points and the Timberwolves (7-1, 2-1) scored 20 points in the first and third quarters to put away the Wolfpack in Kalispell.

Davenport 48, Riverside Christian 33: Miranda Mielke scored a game-high 18 points and the Gorillas (2-1) overcame a six-point first quarter to beat the Crusaders in Yakima.

Kellogg 48, Chewelah 29: Hailey Fuller and Shayna Waechter each snagged double-digit rebounds with 11 and 10, respectively, and the Wildcats (5-2) used their height to overwhelm the Cougars (0-4) in Kellogg. Fuller also finished with 10 points.

Priest River 59, Newport 43: With the Grizzlies (3-1) leading 8-6 early in the first quarter, the Spartans (5-0) rallied to take a 30-15 lead, paced by nine of Melissa Hopkins’ 18 points, and rolled to the win in Newport.

Sprague-Harrington 57, Wilson Creek 41: Lacey Hirst had 24 points and six rebounds and the Falcons (1-4) tallied 25 steals to beat the Devils (0-2) in Wilson Creek.

Wilbur-Creston 31, Mansfield 30: Caitlin Herdick scored 10 points and the Wildcats (2-2) held on to beat the Kernels, who missed 1 of 2 free throws with 2 seconds left in the game in Mansfield.

District 9 North

St. John-Endicott 57, Pomeroy 29: The Eagles (6-0, 2-0) used an inside-outside scoring attack against the visiting Pirates (1-1, 0-1), getting 18 points down low from Kelly Van Lith, with Alli Winters adding 14 points.

Colton 85, LaCrosse-Washtucna 21: The Wildcats (3-0, 2-0) jumped out to a 24-0 lead after one quarter against the Tigercats (1-2, 0-1) with five players finishing with double-digit points, led by 20 from Kelsey Moser.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 39, Garfield-Palouse 27: Desiree’ Chappell scored 22 of the Nighthawks’ (2-0, 1-0) points in their league-opening victory against the Vikings (0-3, 0-2) in Palouse.

Asotin 53, Rosalia 40: Zara Reynolds scored 12 points and the Panthers (1-2, 1-0) held the Spartans (1-3, 0-2) to 11 first-half points to earn their first league win in Asotin.

Panorama League

Springdale 55, Northport 24: Jerika Cummings led with 16 points and eight rebounds and the Chargers (5-0, 1-0) jumped out early in their league opener, holding the Mustangs (1-3, 0-1) to 12 points through three quarters in Springdale.

Curlew 42, Cusick 36: The Cougars (3-1, 1-0) overcame a sluggish first half in which they scored just 16 points to outscore the Panthers (0-2, 0-1) 26-16, taking the lead for good in the final two minutes.

St. George’s 48, Selkirk 31: Lizzie McQuade scored 10 points to go with 17 rebounds and Andra Moye drilled a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter that saw the Dragons (3-1, 1-0) pull away from the Rangers (1-4, 0-1) with 20 points in the frame in Ione.

Wellpinit 73, Inchelium 30: Freshman Dani Flett came off the bench to lead the Redskins (2-2, 2-0) with 22 points in their victory over the Hornets (0-4, 0-1) in Wellpinit.
