Marshall catches record

Associated Press

Brandon Marshall set a single-game record with 21 receptions in Denver’s 28-16 loss to Indianapolis on Sunday.

“I believe it was one of those games where, whenever you accomplish something like that, it definitely feels good,” he said. “But we have goals, and our only goal is to win games. I’d definitely trade in a couple of those catches for a win.”

Marshall surpassed the mark San Francisco’s Terrell Owens set Dec. 17, 2000. He finished with 200 yards and two touchdowns.

He tied Owens’ mark on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Orton in the fourth quarter. He set the record on Denver’s final offensive play when he gained 7 yards on a fourth-down play before lateraling to lineman Chris Kuper for 7 more yards.

Tomlinson extends mark: Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson extended his NFL record of consecutive 10-touchdown seasons to nine in a row.

Tomlinson scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter of San Diego’s game at Dallas. It was his 10th rushing TD this season.

It was also Tomlinson’s 136th career rushing TD, all since 2001, matching Emmitt Smith’s record for the most in a decade.

LB Ware sprains neck: Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware sprained his neck when he slammed headfirst into a San Diego Chargers lineman.

Ware was immobilized on a stretcher, carted off the field and taken to the hospital for X-rays and further evaluation.

The Cowboys, who provided the diagnosis of a sprained neck, also said Ware was “aware and alert with full movement and strength in his extremities.”

As he was being taken off the field, Ware gave a thumbs-up and waved both hands.

Young starts, gets hurt: Tennessee quarterback Vince Young strained his right hamstring during the second quarter against the St. Louis Rams and didn’t return as the Titans finished off a 47-7 rout.

Coach Jeff Fisher described Young’s injury as mild.

Young came into the game questionable because of an achy right knee he aggravated during practice Thursday, a setback that caused him to leave the session early. He watched Friday but warmed up with apparently no problems Sunday.

Cowboys go 3-D: The Cowboys’ mammoth video boards achieved another first – albeit briefly.

Dallas’ game was shown live in 3-D beginning at the start of the third quarter.

Fans were asked to put on 3-D glasses for what the Cowboys touted as the first live 3-D broadcast.
