No defense for vote-buying
Have you heard “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”? Welcome to the Obama, Reid and Pelosi machine.
Why bother to negotiate when simple bribery will do – with (your) taxpayer money? First we had the $3.5 billion for Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, to secure cap and trade. Then $300 million for the “Louisiana Purchase” of Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., for health care, and recently another $100 million to Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., to get that crucial 60th vote. Add another $100 million for Sen. Chris Dodd’s, D-Conn., new hospital for re-election pork, and we have real change we can believe in – it’s better known as corruption. And these payouts are likely just the tip of the iceberg.
Buying votes, in the minds of most thinking people, is certainly immoral if not flat illegal. But, given the mix of a Democrat majority in the House, a super majority in the Senate and a Chicago-politically-bred president, is anyone surprised? We can all vote next November to stop this train wreck or sit back complacently and watch our free-market system dismantled and replaced with a nascent, incremental and deliberate march toward socialism. Your choice.
