Shelter failure shameful

The Spokesman-Review

The Dec. 19 Roundtable guest opinion (“Spokane primed for more growth”) claims that the city of Spokane is entering a progressive renaissance and thriving economically. But by refusing to honor its commitment to join with the county to fund a decent regional animal shelter (“SpokAnimal extends city agreement,” Dec. 9), the city of Spokane has shown it is morally bankrupt. They have turned a deaf ear to their abandoned animals and are ignoring the animal overpopulation crisis. They should be ashamed to be this inhumane and shortsighted.
