Readers of The Spokesman-Review and visitors to www.spokesman.com now have the ability to laugh all day long, or at least start each day with a smile, thanks to an innovative method of delivering comics online.

More than 60 favorite comic strips are now waiting for you for free daily at www.spokesman.com/comics which is the new home of Comics Kingdom, an interactive resource delivering comics and much more.

The strips and panels are distributed by King Features Syndicate, and include contemporary and classic favorites, everything from Zits and Mutts to Blondie and Beetle Bailey. Strips are organized by category to make searching even easier.

New full-color strips are added daily, and there’s also a 30-day archive for each strip, so readers can easily take their pick of 1,500 strips on any given day.

In addition to catching up on your favorite comic characters, readers can learn more about the comic itself, along with extra details about the cartoonist and the characters. You can also rank comics, e-mail favorite strips to a friend; choose from among 400 comic-character avatars if you’d like to post your thoughts for free in a comments section; and check out the top 10 lists to see what comics your fellow subscribers are reading.

Comics have been a vital part of the American newspaper for more than 100 years. According to the Newspaper Association of America, comics rank alongside main news, local news, entertainment and sports as the most read section of the newspaper.
