Education money not wasted

The Spokesman-Review

Many will say that I am writing for myself. But I am writing to encourage all voters in the Spokane school district to take up the challenge and vote for our future.

“I touch the future,” writes Christa McAuliffe, “I teach.” We all teach. I and my colleagues know every day that we are blessed to be doing it directly. But we, the voters, are also teaching when we vote to approve the bond and levy.

The costs are not insignificant. But, if you think that they are high, consider the price of ignorance.

We, as voters, should look closely at the bond and levy. But when we do, we see that the costs for good schools will remain steady for the next two decades. This is a consequence of being farsighted, and still meeting the needs of this day – and of future days.

Please vote yes on the bond and yes on the levy. Our money is not wasted when we spend it on the learning of our youth.
