Nighthawks stop No. 2 Gar-Pal

Kelly Cook’s two free throws with 15 seconds left broke a 50-all tie and helped Tekoa-Oakesdale to a 53-50 District 9 North win over second-ranked and visiting Garfield-Palouse.

The Nighthawks (13-4, 6-2) were led by the 16 points of Brandon Hovde and 11 each from Kelly Cook and Casey Cook.

Michael Jacobs led the Vikings (14-2, 8-1) with 15.

Colton 64, LaCrosse-Washtucna 36: Nick Heitstuman scored 22 points for the Wildcats (5-10, 2-8) in the easy home win over the Tigercats (2-13, 0-8).

Asotin 50, Pomeroy 25: The Panthers (10-5, 4-4) doubled up the visiting Pirates (2-16, 2-7).

Rosalia 54, St. John-Endicott 43, Rosalia 43: Nathan Richards scored 11 points and blocked 10 shots to lead the visiting Spartans (13-6, 7-3) past the Eagles (12-5, 5-3).

Great Northern League

Colville 72, Cheney 61: Freshman Alex Pond scored 10 of his 12 points in the fourth quarter as the home-standing Indians (5-9, 2-6) pulled away from the Blackhawks (6-9, 4-5).

PJ Sager led the Indians with 16 points. Mike Sprenger led the Blackhawks with 16.

Clarkston 63, Riverside 46: Cody Brown scored 18 points and Dustin McConnell added 14 as the visiting Bantams (10-4, 9-0) remained unbeaten in league with the win over the Rams (4-10, 2-7). Joey Nyberg led the Rams with 17 points.

West Valley 42, Deer Park 38: At Deer Park, Jordan Lupfer-Graham broke a 38-all tie with a baseline jumper as the Eagles (11-4, 7-2) edged the pesky Stags (2-13, 1-8).

After Lupfer-Graham’s shot, the Eagles forced a turnover, which forced Deer Park to foul. WV missed the foul shot, but a tip-in rebound sealed the win.

Lupfer-Graham led all scorers with 17. West Valley struggled from 3-point land, hitting just 1 of 13.

Intermountain League

Bonners Ferry 52, Orofino 39: Aaron Hoisington scored 16 points and pulled down five rebounds as the Badgers (4-10, 2-4) beat the visiting Maniacs (4-7, 2-3).

Miguel Mendez added eight points, five steals and five rebounds for the Badgers.

Priest River 77, St. Maries 62: Junior wing Jake Weimer scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Spartans’ (11-0, 5-0) win at home over the Lumberjacks (11-2, 5-2).

Eric Holbrook led Priest River with 15 points, including 11 of 14 from the foul line.

Caribou Trail League

Lake Roosevelt 62, Cashmere 53: Ty Egbert scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Raiders past the Bulldogs at Cashmere.

Northeast A League

Lakeside 70, Chewelah 66 (OT): Dillon Watkins converted a three-point play with four seconds left to force overtime and Brady Blankevoort scored 21 points as the host Eagles (11-9, 6-2) downed the Cougars (11-8, 2-6) at Nine Mile Falls.

Lakeside was down by 14 points at one point, but outscored Chewelah 19-10 in the fourth to force the overtime.

Stryker Smith led Chewelah with 20 points.

Freeman 62, Kettle Falls 26: The fourth-ranked Scotties (17-1, 8-0) celebrated senior night at home and completed a perfect league record with an easy win in the regular-season finale over the Bulldogs (3-13, 1-7).

Seniors Anthony Emtman, Daniel James, Luke Matthews, Chris Miller and Evan Smith helped the Scotties jump out to an insurmountable 24-8 lead in the first quarter. Smith scored all eight of his points in the first quarter and also collected seven assists. Miller scored a game-high 17 points and Emtman pulled down eight rebounds.

Bi-County 2B League

Davenport 55, Lind-Ritzville 51: Josh Zeiler’s basket in the closing seconds helped the visiting Gorillas (13-5, 8-4) hold off the charging Broncos (12-7, 6-5).

Davenport was up by 11 points with 2 minutes remaining, but Lind-Ritzville closed it to two before Zeiler’s shot. He finished with a team-high 21 points. The Broncos were led by the 21 of Jamie Stevenson.

Colfax 59, Liberty 52: At Colfax, Ryan Conrad scored 19 points to lead the Bulldogs (9-9, 6-5) past the Lancers (7-12, 3-8).

Northwest Christian 61, Valley Christian 22: The top-ranked Crusaders (19-0, 11-0 continued their domination in the 2B ranks with an easy road win over the Panthers (2-16, 0-11).

Chase Ramey had 12 points and Matt Zandbergen added 10 for Northwest Christian, which hit 60 percent of its shots from the field and limited the Panthers to just 15 percent.

Bi-County 1B League

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 81, Sprague-Harrington 32: Cody Jess scored 17 points and Garrett Jess put in 14 to lead the No. 2 Warriors (15-4, 5-0) past the visiting Falcons (1-13, 0-6).

The win clinched the league title for ACH.

Panorama League

Selkirk 69, Columbia 56: Colton Enyeart led the 10th-ranked Rangers (13-6, 7-5) with 16 points in a win over the visiting Lions (2-16, 2-13) at Ione.

Republic 74, St. Michael’s 61: Jesse Beck scored 33 points to lead the visiting Tigers (5-12, 4-8) past the Warriors (3-16, 3-13).

Wellpinit 66, St. George’s 61: The Redskins (17-1, 15-0) hit 7 of 11 foul shots down the stretch to hold off the Dragons (12-6, 11-1) and hand the visitors their first league loss.

Cody Flett put on a show for the Redskins, scoring a game-high 27 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. Kennedy Seyler added 18 for Wellpinit and Billy Flett had eight points and 10 rebounds. Grant Evans led St. George’s with 21 points. Jordan Dickson had 10 rebounds.

Cusick 72, Curlew 51: The fifth-ranked Panthers (14-4, 11-4) got a team-high 22 from Spencer Shanholtzer in the road win over the Cougars (11-8, 7-8).

Tyler Edwards added 19. Louie Bluff got 16 for the Panthers. Jordan Wakefield led the Cougars with 17.

Springdale 40, Inchelium 25: Chris Bossio scored 15 points for the Chargers (12-6, 9-3) in a game at Springdale that had just eight fouls and eight free throws.

The Hornets (5-13, 4-11) scored 18 of their 25 points on 3-pointers.

Non-league

Reardan 55, Wilbur-Creston 23: Mike Matson scored 15 of his game-high 22 points in the third quarter as the Indians (9-10) raced past the visiting Wildcats (6-9). It was the regular-season finale for the Wildcats.
