Sportsman’s Exposition coming to Bonner County Fairgrounds

Correspondent

The first Sportsman’s Exposition will be held next Saturday and Feb. 15 in Sandpoint at the Bonner County Fairgrounds.

“This will be the biggest event of it’s kind for Sandpoint, ” Dave Lotze said. Like gardeners poring over the seed catalogs in winter, sportsmen can plan for that fall hunt, study how to catch that big fish, learn new game calls, and meet some of the world’s hall of fame outdoor sportsmen. Gathered together in one place will be a multitude of knowledge, products and things to do.

The fairgrounds will be humming with activity with a snowboard rail jam outside, and dog sled demonstrations. Inside will be vendors, seminars, food and hourly door prizes. A fishing pond for the kids and massages for the ladies will provide something for everyone. Jim’s Barbecue dishes up the food while Jumpin’ Java sells coffee.

Sandpoint’s radio station K102 will broadcast the event from the fairgrounds. They’ll even have booths available for the men to buy last-minute Valentine’s Day gifts for their sweethearts.

Seminar speakers will be Larry D. Jones, a world record bow hunter; Jim Grassi, author, speaker and master outdoors man; Tom Joiner, master fisherman from Coeur d’Alene, speaking about how to catch rainbow and lake trout. He makes his own lures and flies.

Calvin Fuller will give seminars on steelhead fishing and Tom Anderson will talk about bass fishing. Sylvie Hmezcua White of TerraPen Maps will teach the use of a GPS.
