Hawaii rips UI

HONOLULU – Kareem Nitoto scored a season-high 21 points to lead Hawaii to a 71-49 victory over Idaho on Saturday.

Hawaii (12-11, 4-7 WAC) opened the game on an 8-0 run and never was threatened as the Vandals (10-12, 4-4) managed 18 points in the first half. The Warriors led by as many as 29 points in the second half after going on a 27-7 run on a dunk by Roderick Flemings with 7:12 left to play.

Idaho, which was held to 38 percent shooting from the field, dropped its second consecutive game.

Hawaii shot 57 percent from the field and made 17 of 22 free throws.
