Gorillas push aside Broncos

Morgan Scharff had 24 points and 13 rebounds and Taylor Morgan hit two free throws with 17 seconds left to seal the Davenport Gorillas’ 57-55 victory over the Lind-Ritzville Broncos in the Bi-County 2B League semifinals Thursday night at Colfax.

Morgan and Chris Becker scored 11 points apiece for the Gorillas (15-5).

Davenport will face top-ranked Northwest Christian tonight for top seeding to district.

Cory Whitmore scored 14 points for the Broncos (13-9), who will face Reardan for 3-4 seeding to district tonight.

Northwest Christian 57, Reardan 31: Matt Zandbergen scored 10 points and the top-ranked Crusaders (21-0) cruised past the Indians (11-11) in a Bi-County 2B league semifinal game at Colfax.

St. John-Endicott 51, LaCrosse-Washtucna 34: Warren Miller scored 15 points and Cole McCanna scored 14 to lead the Eagles (12-6) to a victory over the visiting Tigercats (2-14) in District 9 1B play.

Beaux Martin scored 14 for LaCrosse-Washtucna.

No. 3 St. John-Endicott will play at No. 2 Rosalia on Saturday.

Touchet 62, Colton 51: Four Indians scored in double figures in a win over the Wildcats (5-11) in District 9 1B play at Colton.

Nick Heitstuman scored 23 points for Colton.

No. 5 Touchet will play at No. 2 Rosalia on Saturday.

Wallace 78, Mullan 35: Jared Bilaski scored 32 points and had 16 rebounds, five steals, four blocked shots and three assists to lead the Miners (10-4, 6-0) past the Tigers (0-10, 0-6) in North Star League play at Wallace.

Mullan’s Kyle Story and Casey McKinnon combined for 23 points.

Girls

Colfax 57, Liberty 33: The Bulldogs (20-1) outscored the Lancers 15-0 in the first quarter and never looked back.

Kayla Johnson had 10 points and 13 rebounds for Colfax.

The Bulldogs will face Lind-Ritzville for top seeding to districts tonight. Davenport and Liberty (14-8) will meet to decide 3-4 seeding. Northwest Christian plays Reardan with the winner earning the No. 5 seed to district. The loser’s season is over.

Lind-Ritzville 49, Davenport 37: The Broncos (15-8) beat the Gorillas (13-8) at Colfax.
