Mead sweeps 3 duals

Mead went 3 for 3 in makeup Greater Spokane League duals Saturday at Ferris.

The Panthers defeated the host Saxons (51-21), Central Valley (31-22) and Gonzaga Prep (59-0).

Freshman Jordan Rodgers posted three victories at 140 pounds to lead Mead. Rodgers had three pins. In the dual against Ferris, Rodgers was ahead of Brandon Riehle 2-1 when he caught him in a head-and-arm move.

Against CV, Rodgers’ pin got the momentum back for Mead. Against G-Prep, 11 Panthers won by pin.

CV and Ferris each posted wins. The Bears knocked off Ferris 39-22 and the Saxons knocked off G-Prep 50-19.

In the CV-Ferris dual, Andrew Michel of Ferris prevailed over Trevor Delmedico 8-5 at 130.

•In a GSL match Friday, Shadle Park handled Rogers 53-21. David Sweet scored a pin in 1:29 at 189 in his first match.

Cheney Invitational: Deer Park had 11 placers, including two individual champs, as the Stags captured the team title with 188 points, six ahead of runner-up Clarkston.

Blake Adams won at 112 and Dylan Miller won at 140 for the Stags. Adams pinned Jared Berlinger of North Central in 2:54 while Miller needed just 25 seconds to stop John Fowler of Colville.

Clarkston had four individual champs. Other local champs were Nathan Brown of NC at 119, Logan Huckins of Cheney at 130 and Brandon Moseley of Cheney at heavyweight.

Rollie Lane Invitational: Coeur d’Alene took second and Lewiston third at Nampa, Idaho.

The Vikings compiled 48 points to finish a distant runner-up behind winner Columbia of Nampa (81). Lewiston posted 43.

Senior Andrew Palmer led CdA by capturing an individual title at 103. Palmer edged Chad Booth of Post Falls 6-5.

Sophomore Casey George led Lewiston, capturing a title at 119.

Post Falls, which finished 10th (35), was led by senior Cole Amende, who won at 215. He defeated Jordan Hick of Columbia 3-1.
