Snow returns briefly

Up to six inches of snow could fall in parts of the Inland Northwest today, according to the National Weather Service. The mountain areas could see up to a foot. But with temperatures in the mid 40s for next week, it won’t stay long, weather officials say. Forecasters expect the snowfall to hit after 10 a.m. today. Temperatures will warm up a bit from Monday’s low of 4. Today’s high and low is forecast in the 20s. With a slight breeze, the wind chill could be 2 degrees below zero, according to the weather service. The precipitation will be gone by Wednesday morning with high temperatures expected above freezing, which should melt off the newest accumulations, according to the weather service. A slight chance of snow is in the forecast on Thursday, but then the area will start to warm up. Partly sunny skies and a high near 39 are expected Friday.
