Three things we’ll be talking about this week

1 Beginning Friday, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe will host its annual Julyamsh powwow and encampment at the Greyhound Park and Events Center in Post Falls. The three-day event will celebrate Native American culture, music, dancing and history, with about 100 tribes represented.

2 On Thursday, the Ann Arbor News publishes its final edition after 174 years in print. The next day, a new company, AnnArbor.com, will launch a news Web site that publishes a print edition twice a week. The newspaper industry’s woes made the paper’s business model unsustainable, the publisher said earlier this year.

3 Since the early ’80s, Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley have pushed the boundaries of music as members of the seminal alt-rock band Sonic Youth. They’re still at it, too, having released their 16th album, “The Eternal,” in June. Now the band is on tour and headed to Spokane, with a date set Friday at the Knitting Factory.
