Mountaintop blessing planned

The Interfaith Council will present a blessing on top of Mount Spokane at 10 a.m. Saturday in Vista House.

The Venerable Geshe Thupten Phelgye, a Buddhist monk, will give the blessing. Phelgye is a member of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and has been working as an ambassador to the Sulha Peace Project in the Middle East.

A variety of faith groups will participate in the blessing.

Anyone wishing to carpool to the event can meet at 8:15 a.m. at the Spokane Islamic Center, 6411 E. Second Ave.

Bible school

The Seventh-day Adventist Church, 5607 S. Freya St., will hold its vacation Bible school, “Kingdom of the Son,” from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through July 30 for kindergarteners through eighth-graders.

The program will include singing, crafts and games with a safari theme.

Movie night

Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, 4449 N. Nevada St., will show the movie “The Jungle Book,” rated G, outdoors at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Free snacks will be offered, and if it rains, the movie will be shown inside.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3307 W. Rowan Ave., will hold a giant yard sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
