Registration open for summer school
Hillyard – St. Patrick Catholic School, at 2706 E. Queen Ave. in Hillyard, will hold an academic summer school Aug. 10-20, from 8-11:45 a.m.
Classes include reading and writing, arithmetic and computer technology.
The classes are for children entering first through sixth grades in the fall. Certified teachers will tailor each subject to the specific need of every student.
Cost for both the reading and writing class and the arithmetic class is $65. The computer course is free. These classes are open to students from any school, and state pay is welcome.

Residents can get free dump passes
Northwest – The Northwest Neighborhood Association will issue 125 free dump passes to residents of the neighborhood on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. The passes will be available at COPS Northwest Shop, 2215 W. Wellesley Ave., Suite D.
The Northwest Neighborhood covers the area west of Ash Street to the Spokane River, bounded by Belt Street and Indiana Avenue on the south, and by Francis Avenue on the north to Fairview, including Westgate and Northwest Terrace,
The $20 passeswill be valid through Aug. 9. They will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. A driver’s license or a utility bill is required to verify residence in the neighborhood.
