Inmates fled work camp, officials say

The missing state inmates were identified as: Matthew S. Harris, 26; Garry G. Layman, 36; and Jeffrey A. Whipple, 46. The men were part of a prison work detail helping maintain forest trails, the Sheriff’s Office said. They are believed to have left the camp with large kitchen knives.

The U.S. Forest Service, the Idaho Department of Corrections and the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the men. Contact the Sheriff’s Office with tips at (208) 556-1114.
