Spokane police arrested a 22-year-old renter early this morning for allegedly shooting a handgun from his second-story window on the 400 block of East Nora Avenue. Jamar C. Smith was booked into Spokane County Jail for aiming or discharging a firearm after officers found a loaded handgun inside the house he was renting and several spent handgun casings in the yard, police said. A neighbor called police to report hearing gunshots. When an officer arrived, he heard two gunshots and immediately called for backup, according to police. The officer then heard four additional gunshots. While containing the area, officers heard the sound of a gun being loaded and confirmed the sound emanated from 408 E. Nora Ave, police said. Police detained two renters from the house. While searching inside, they reportedly found a loaded handgun.
