WSU seeks new college; cost a wash
PULLMAN – Washington State University officials want to create a college next fall that will consolidate career development, general education and the Honors College.
The proposed unit would be called University College. The Office of Undergraduate Education would be eliminated, so there would be no additional costs.
Many WSU students don’t go directly into a major, and there’s a period when they are not affiliated with any college. The new unit would provide advising and academic support to such students. Officials said that should help in retention and help more students graduate on time.
The proposal will be brought to the faculty senate in the fall.
