Key Spokane arterial reopens Friday

One of northwest Spokane’s key arterial routes – Alberta and Cochran streets – reopens Friday after more than two months of work to rebuild the driving surface. The section of the route from Northwest Boulevard to Wellesley Avenue already reopened, and now the segment from Wellesley Avenue to Francis Avenue will be open, too. Mayor Mary Verner is expected to mark the reopening with a celebration event at 10 a.m. Friday at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church parking lot at 5508 N. Alberta St. Work on the $3.8 million project began in April and is being funded under voter approval in 2004 to rebuild streets in Spokane over a 10-year period.
