Three things we’ll be talking about this week

1 Hoopfest, the gigantic 3-on-3 street basketball tournament, takes place Saturday and Sunday. The event has signed up 6,700 teams and draws an estimated 200,000 players and fans downtown. 2 Shia LaBeouf and Michael Bay are at it again. Their first toy-turned- cartoon-turned-mega-action-movie, “Transformers,” raked in something like $708 million worldwide when it was released in 2007. The duo – and those übercool robots – will set their sights on world domination once again when “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” hits theaters Wednesday.

3 Thursday brings the NBA draft, where Spokane will be watching to see how former Gonzaga star Austin Daye fares. The 6-foot-11 forward decided last week to forgo his final two years of eligibility at Gonzaga. Meanwhile, the NHL draft begins its two-day run Friday, with a Spokane Chief climbing the ranks. Defenseman Jared Cowen has been projected by SI.com to go as high as No. 3.
