CV alumni tourney set for May
The Central Valley Alumni basketball tournament will return, May 1 and 2.
Brackets have been established and details for participating are on the Web site www.cvbears.com/alumni/ tourney.htm.
The goal, said boys coach Rick Sloan, is to have 12 teams consisting of former players over the past five decades. Each team will be made up of athletes who played during a two- to four-year span.
Team captains have been posted on the Web site. Entry fee is $250 per team. Proceeds for the tournament go toward the Ron Sloan Memorial Scholarship fund and the CV basketball program.

Food bank pledges matched
Through April 30, donations or pledges made to the Alan Feinstein Challenge will benefit the Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank.
For the 12th consecutive year, Feinstein will divide $1 million between food banks and hunger-fighting agencies across America, in his continuing effort to raise awareness and funding to fight hunger.
Donations made by cash, check, credit card or food (food will be counted as $1 per pound) will count toward a match of the proportion of Feinstein’s $1 million challenge.
Food donations may be dropped off at Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank, 10814 E. Broadway Ave., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monetary donations may be mailed to Spokane Valley Partners, Attn: Feinstein, P.O. Box 141360, Spokane Valley, WA 99214-1360.

Mayor’s Ball tickets available
Tickets for the seventh annual Spokane Valley Mayor’s Ball are now on sale. “The Greening of the Valley” will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the anticipated beginning of spring.
The gala will be March 21 in the Mirabeau Park Hotel Ballroom, 1100 N. Sullivan Road, and will begin at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7, followed by dancing and music by the band Nobody Famous.
The event is black – or green – tie.
Tickets are $45 per person. Group tables are available.
